plabon jol ( The deluge) is a creative fiction in the background of Narmada Bachao Andolon, a three decade long non violent movement which resisted the raising of the height of Sardar Sarovar Dam and then, when the construction could not be stopped demanding rehabilitation of people whose lands and homes got submerged. It explores with deep insight the politics of water, capital and subjugation of interests of the ordinary farmers and tribals. For the tribals and farmers, separation from Narmada altered and broke their community existence which the idea of development could not address.

মণিবেলি গ্রামের হীরেণ তড়বী গাছের নিচে তার খাটিয়াটির উপর শুয়ে থাকে। শীত বসন্ত গ্রীষ্ম গিয়ে বর্ষা আসে। জল উঠে আসে গাছের খুব কাছ পর্যন্ত। জলমগ্ন মণিবেলি-র কুড়িটি ঘর আজও পুনর্বাসন নেয়নি, ভিটেমাটি ছাড়েনি। ঠিক উল্টোদিকে আকাশচুম্বী সর্দারেরমুর্তিতে আলো লেগেফিরে এসে লাগে মণিবেলি সত্যাগ্রহের নেতার চোখে। রাতে জাগে মণিবেলি। কেভারিয়ার আলোর সজ্জা তাদের দীপ নেভা গ্রামের আকাশ আলো করে রাখে। ঘুমোতে দেয় না। বারদোলি সত্যাগ্রহের নেতাও জেগে থাকেন সারা রাত। কেন তা জানে না স্বাধীন দেশ।
